I watched the Presidential Election Victory Speech from last year, twice today. To honor the mark in our history that was made 365 days ago, and to celebrate everything that dedication, hardwork, and hope brings. President Obama made the decision to change the course of his life as a black man in our country, and went to become President of the United States of America. He went from an underdog to the topdog. He wants to do great things. And he wants us to do the same. He spoke to us as a nation and said, "this is not only my victory-- this is yours. We can make the choice to embrace change, and the door of opportunity is waiting for you to open it."
I, too, am rerouting the course of my life's path. And although I can not celebrate any sort of victory just yet, I'm taking a step to make my mark. I'm embracing change in my own life and I'm finally answering to the ghost in the faraway darkroom of my mind that keeps calling my name to come near. I'm holding my breath and praying that there's not a monster on the other side because, I'm opening the door.
I want to do great things.
